The ready-to-use, closed BD Nexiva single-port IV catheter system minimises potential sources of contamination and thus the risk of infection. The biocompatible catheter material and handling via the integrated extension tubing without manipulating the insertion site allow longer dwell times.
Passive needle protection reliably prevents needlestick and scratch injuries. After needle removal the septum closes the catheter completely, so no vein occlusion is needed and blood contact is prevented. The 24G size must not be used with contrast injectors; sizes 18–22G can. MRI-compatible, colour-coded.
