The Mediware Bowie–Dick Test Pack is designed to check the performance of steam sterilizers operating with fractionated pre-vacuum cycles. It helps assess whether air is adequately removed from the sterilizer chamber and whether steam penetrates the test pack correctly.
The test should be performed using the Bowie–Dick test cycle specified for the sterilizer and in accordance with the instructions for use of both the sterilizer and the test pack. After the cycle, the result is assessed by examining the colour change on the internal indicator sheet. A uniform colour change indicates a satisfactory test result; abnormal or uneven discolouration requires further investigation of the sterilizer's performance.
The indicator is free of heavy metals. According to Servoprax product information, the test pack complies with EN ISO 11140-4 and has passed testing associated with the British Standards Institution (BSI).
The product is intended for single use. Each pack contains 20 test packs.
