Especially in the case of central paralysis (brain injury, post-stroke conditions), it is important to avoid muscle spasms. This is achieved by treating the antagonist (the muscle pair:flexor-tensor) muscle by having the 2 pairs of electrodes slightly offset in time, so that while one muscle is working, the antagonist is resting. In this way, a movement similar to the natural one is produced, with minimal movement, which some specialists say is excluded.
The development and increase of muscle stiffness. This function is provided by the ME 2006 machine's programmes 4 and 6.
