The masticatory muscles (masseter muscle, temporalis muscle, pterygoid medialis and lateralis muscles) are represented as elastic bands. This model can be used to demonstrate the function of the masseter muscles in closing the jaw, in inducing the opening of the jaw, and in moving the jaw laterally and forward. The skull cap can be removed and the jaw can be moved.
