The BD Cathena safety IV catheter features Instaflash needle technology for low-pain insertion and immediate confirmation of venous access. The smooth, tapered tip and BD Vialon biomaterial – rigid before insertion, softening inside the body – support longer dwell times and reduce the risk of mechanical phlebitis.

Multiguard technology minimises the need for venous compression and blood exposure for staff. The anti-rotation tab gives tactile control, and the passive safety system automatically shields the needle on withdrawal. Available with or without wings, with detachable vent cap; power-injectable up to 325 psi.
