- The instrument's sensor emits a 2 MHz ultrasound beam that can penetrate up to 20 cm into the human body. The ultrasound penetrating the body is reflected from the interfaces of different tissues. When the interfaces move, the frequency of the reflected ultrasound beam changes due to the Doppler effect. The change falls within the range of sounds that humans can hear.
- The high penetration depth of the 2 MHz ultrasound and the large surface area of the transducer of the device allow mainly obstetric diagnostic applications:
- TabDop-P detects the movement of the human foetus' heart as early as 11-12 weeks of pregnancy. From the 11th week of gestation, the fetal heartbeat can be monitored from the 11th to the 11th week of gestation. It detects the large blood vessels in the placenta and can therefore determine its location. It can detect twin pregnancies. The LCD display on the front panel shows the instantaneous fetal heart rate.
- In addition to the basic functions listed above, the device can be connected to a computer, which can display a fetal heart rate/time chart using the "TabDop Monitor" program, and an event button that allows the mother to mark the time of fetal movement. In addition to recording the heart rate/time graph, it is also possible to print the curve. The diagnosis and comment attached to the measurements, together with the patient and doctor's identification details, are also displayed on the printed chart. It is also possible to adjust the paper speed dynamically and to determine the exact values of the curve using a cursor ruler. The program database can handle any number of 10,000 patients.
